This is a Gothic adaptation of the most popular themed chess piece set in the UK; the Isle of Lewis Chess Pieces. They are called that because they were found in the Isle of Lewis, however they were probably made in 12th century Trondheim in Norway.
In the 12th century chess was very popular among Europe's royalty. This Gothic adaptation gives the chess pieces a distinctly early Medieval flavour.
These unique and wonderful chess pieces are made of crushed marble and resin and are made in England.
